The photographic school opened its doors in November 2007 and to date, Getpix have trained over 1200 photographic students in photography, digital manipulation, web design and videography. Each course is practically orientated with photographic students having ample opportunity during the class to put to practice what has been taught theoretically.

Every Getpix instructor without exception, have outstanding patience and dynamic inter-personal skills making Getpix courses a winner.

Paula’s extreme love for travel with well planned research has put interesting destinations on the map for annual tours both local and abroad.

Paula has a passion for photography and life which is contagious. ‘‘It’s a case of carry my handbag or my camera bag - and the camera bag wins every time. I see photographs in everything that passes me by. Sharing my passion is very rewarding.  I wanted to make sure I had the right calibre of instructors, who share the same passion, before I grew my business.  Tuition allows us to grow and develop and stimulates our minds.''

The school prides itself on working in small groups. Our lecturers without exception are available to assist with any question a student might have. They are vibrant, patient and love sharing their knowledge and expertise. Students are assured that they will receive the personal attention they require to make their learning a rewarding, fun experience.

ill_1VANESSA DA COSTA
Vanessa, whilst working for 13 years as a flight attendant she has been fortunate to photograph all over the world.

‘‘At the beginning of 2008 I attended Getpix School of Photography under the supervision of Paula Rutherford, where I learnt the fundamental basics of photography and how to get the most out of an image. It was a well rounded course; everything I know today is thanks to Getpix. Having knowledge of photography is great, but putting it to practice can be difficult. This is where Getpix came into the picture, hands on, personal training, getting to know your camera, inside and out.

I love the saying ‘‘Capture the present, to preserve the past for the future’’. There is nothing more fulfilling than watching a student grow with confidence in their photography and achieve so much,’’ enthused Vanessa.

ill_1MIKE GILL

After many years of annoying friends and family as the “guy with the camera” at events and parties, Mike started to look into the art and science of photography and slowly but surely was getting hooked. He now can be found wandering around airports and motor racing tracks looking for that one perfect moment to seize the perfect action photograph. He is equally passionate about wedding and studio photography.

“Peoples expressions, faces, eyes & body language can tell more stories in a single captured moment than a best selling author will tell in a lifetime”.

Having attended the advanced photographic course at Getpix in 2008, remained in contact with the school facilitating in the organising of photographic outings etc, Mike is now enjoying sharing his passion as an instructor at Getpix.

ill_1ANDRE PEZZUTTO

As a qualified Computer Programmer/Analyst and Project Manager I have spent most of my working career in the IT Industry. My photographic interests go back some 40+ years (Yikes!). I used to spend many late night hours in my home darkroom (a blackened out bathroom) developing and printing B&W photographs. I still have all my B&W kit including my very first Kodak Instamatic camera. My passion for wildlife goes back to the days when my family owned a Game Farm adjoining Mala Mala in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. I spent many exciting and memorable years growing up and living close to nature. To me there is nothing better than to be in the bush “armed” with a camera (Canon) and having lots of time to view and capture wildlife in their natural environment. Sabi Sand, Kruger, Umfolozi and Botswana being my favourite wildlife destinations.

I am a past member of the Vereeniging Photographic Society, the PSSA and Boksburg Camera Club where I was Chairman for a number of years. I currently specialize in Wedding, Event and Corporate Photography. What happens inside your mind can happen inside a camera! - Anonymous.

ill_1LESLIE MURRAY

Leslie Murray, studied electronics at Germiston Technicon and for many years was an electronics and PLC draughtswoman at Pelindaba Nuclear Power Station. Leslie commented by saying,'' I grew up intrigued by my grandfather setting up "upside down" pictures on his "Browny" which he then developed in his own darkroom, and so my passion was born.''

I have been fortunate to have travelled extensively with my trusty Canon T50 film camera. This became a way of life and many awesome moments have been captured along the road. I first migrated to using a digital Casio Exilim Z850 that can do just about anything and everything, real time photography just blew me away.

‘’Living in beautiful Cape Town, where the colours are so vibrant just lends itself to beautiful pictures. I have a sports crazy family - a husband who has  competed in numerous Dakar and Roof of Africa races and a son that has been chosen to qualify for the 2012 Olympics triathlon – so naturally over the years I was thrown into action photography.

And so my journey continues...........

ill_1BRONWYN FLANIGAN

Bronwyn qualified in graphic design at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, where photography was one of her subjects.

ill_1Gail Cattelino

I started my career way back in 1981, in a drawing office, drawing the traditional way with pens, rulers and the standard A0 drawing board.  As time progressed and technology advanced I was fascinated with the change in the draughting world and the ease of use of CAD (computer aided design). I became totally conversant with the very first AutoCAD 9  and  I have kept current, (which is imperative), every year, as the latest versions of the software were released. Currently  I design in 2D and 3D on  AutoCAD 2012.

My disciplines of CAD have been varied and exciting and I have been a contractor my entire career. Working on various projects ranging from designing  helicopters and army vehicles to mining and process plants, has led me to meet people from all walks of life- some remaining friends still today. You learn something new every day  and I  am the type of person that by sharing my knowledge willingly, gives me inspiration to help and be hands on, where ever I can. I care!
