Paula Rutherford
Paula Rutherford is a lecturer, lifestyle & corporate photographer, who after living and photographing for 9 years in exciting and unusual countries, such as Turkey, Uzbekistan, Mozambique and Kazakhstan returned to South Africa in 2007. During this time she was fortunate enough to build up a wealth of photographic knowledge, exhibit, sell and run photographic schools. This experience inspired her to share this photographic knowledge. As a result Getpix Photographic School, in Benoni, was formed.
She is passionate about people photography, which captures the emotion at that moment in time, especially in the elderly and the young. Another genre that she regularly shoots is scape photography, whether it be land, architectural or sea, the light has to be just right. Corporate photography offers her the challenge and creativity that she thrives on, making sure her client’s brief is met along with her own creative touch to show she is totally committed to the shoot at hand. Every shoot is met with fresh ideas and approach.
Her commercial clients include Travel Geographic, Time Out Magazine, Lale Magazine Turkey, British American Tobacco, M Cell Mozambique, Kopanong Hotel, Circuit Breaker Industries, Dorbyl, MidasGroup, Designing South Africa, The Wine Show, Remax and Mi-Bar. Whether it is a corporate product or a classic wedding, Paula offers you her portfolio for perusal.
‘’Travel has broadened my horizons exponentially and I feel privileged to have lived amongst such a cultural diversity. It has enabled me to experience photography without boundaries. My greatest moment was being the assigned photographer for the UB40 and Lucky Dube Concert in Mozambique. Whilst standing on my own stage and looking at the thriving 50 000 music revellers, I can remember laughing loud and shouting outload - ''YES'', this is what photography is all about.”
