I have taught Photography, Photoshop and Lightroom for 16 years. I love teaching - and watching people grow as they come to grips with their camera.

Truly - any camera is just perfect. Whether you have an easy to hold point 'n shoot (Muk 'n Druk), bridge camera (the lens doesn't come off the body of the camera), a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. It is not so much about the camera, as it is about the person pressing the shutter button.

More and more hobbyist and amateur photographers ask for private 1 on 1 training. One or two hours, focusing solely on what you want to learn, is highly beneficial. Alternatively, you can enrol to attend one of many, short photographic courses. Each short photographic course, comprises of 4 x lessons. Attending Online or in a classroom with other students is another great way of learning, though most people prefer individual attention.

How do you get started?

I teach you how to shoot on (M) Manual. It is so easy. Once I have taught you ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed, you will wish you had learnt how to shoot on Manual sooner. I always follow each small theoretical section, with you picking up your camera and shooting what we have just learnt.

You can book a lesson on any day or time - weekdays or weekends. Once you have mastered the basics, we go out and really practise - at locations which are close by: at stables, nurseries, lakes and at other photographically stimulating, safe venues.

Currently I am privately teaching Johan ( 64), Liam (21), 2 friends Amanda (61), Sanet (65) , and Joshua (9). Each person is at a different level in their photography. 1 of my current students, is studying at an Online Course with another college, but she requires practical assistance to put into practise what she is learning theoretically. She also requires assistance understanding her projects that need to be submitted. Another past student Kaitlyn (20) is now employed as a ship's photographer and within 3 months has travelled aboard and experienced Auris Borealis in Norway , Mexico and England.

Another of our students want to become an estate agent photographer. After he has finished learning the basics, he then practised under my tutelage, photographing multiple houses and corporate offices - inside and outside, during daytime and during low light. Thereafter he attended our Adobe Lightroom course, so that he can edit his work for his clientele. He currently runs his own business.

"I attended 2 courses at GETPIX Photography a few months ago and had such an amazing experience. Paula is kind and cheerful and makes every lesson fun and exciting. Her hands-on approach to learning is second to none, which will leave you with a wealth of knowledge when you complete your course."

Marcel Van Jaarsveld

"I had the most wonderful experience doing my beginners photography course with Paula. I've been wanting to take a course for years, but couldn't find anything that ticked all the boxes. Paula is a wonderful person, extremely knowledgable and talented photographer and an excellent teacher. I can't wait to do the next course, and keep improving my photography skills. Thanks Paula"

Irene Dryer

"Paula was great. She helped me so much to learn about the photo studio, managing the lights, poses and dealing with clients. She is always keen to answer any doubts. Excellent experience."
