Capturing light, feelings & moments and all the things in between people and life.

On our Photographic tour to Uzbekistan last year, we visited Bukhara. Wandering behind our hotel, I was completely drawn to the strength of the architecture — bold lines, beautiful texture in the artwork, and light pouring through the rattan roof details. As the sun filtered through, it projected intricate patterns onto the sand, almost like a second artwork forming beneath it.

That sharp V at the entrance grounds the whole scene, strong and graphic, while the textured surface and shifting light soften it just enough. I love images like this — where structure, texture and light do all the talking.

Peacock Profusion

GETPIX Photography Outing

We are going to photograph 120 , free range peacocks and their babies, in a huge, private garden.

Come & capture their natural behaviour, their iridescent feathers all fluffed out behind them, as well as some - roosting in trees, ( I kid you not).

3 hours of happiness.

We will immerse ourselves, just for the love of photography.

Meet at this safe space- it's ours for the morning.

🗓 Nature ruled - The peacocks had a mini crisis, LOL, (they decided to shed their plumage, as they do twice a year), so we will patiently wait until early April for updated dates.

UPDATE: The peacocks are happy with full plummage .We had a super outing with 11 photographers on Thursday 28th May.

The wonders of FileRev for Photographers

Is your hard drive and cloud storage full?

Thanks to a very good friend, I came across FileRev and I want to share it with you. When your computer is so full that you cannot load 1 more photoshoot, maybe think about viewing and removing all your duplicate images (which you didn't think you had ) and by doing so free up space. What does it do in 5 easy understandable points:

Scans your folders ( do I have so many)for duplicate files and images quickly.

Identifies exact matches ( that's smart) and similar files so nothing slips through.

Lets you review before deletion ( thank you) , keeping control in your hands.

Deletes duplicates safely (a bonus) , freeing up valuable storage.

Speeds up your workflow ( halleluiah) by cutting clutter and keeping your library organised.

Off to Kgalagadi

In October, we are heading off to Kgalagadi - yet again. This time we are inviting others to join. ( We can't always just go off on our own) . I just can't verbalize how much this place means to me. Kgalagadi allows me to be myself, breathe much deeper and just ....exist.

If its something that you have always wanted todo, but felt a little insecure about going to, honestly fear not.

We have 4 spaces left.

We leave Sunday 11th October 2026 and return on Wednesday 21st October 2026.

11 days and 10 nights of pure photographic bliss.

Twee Rivieren | Mata Mata | Augrabies

If you have never driven in the real bush, don't worry ,we have included a training session where you’ll learn how to drive confidently through water, sand, and thick sand. I have done it twice- it is so much fun and built my confidence.

R29 000 p/p sharing . R5000 deposit secures your booking.

Chinese New Year - Let's photograph

We attend the Chinese New Year Celebrations every year. It's magical and very photograph-able. A safe place to photograph, with hordes of happy people and an action packed day. Go early. Pack light. Carry your bag on your front to allow for easy lens changes. Find a good place to stand for the Dragon Dance. Watch the drummers and capture slow motion drumming. Shoot from low down. Shoot looking down onto the performers from the 2nd floor balcony. Enter the temple and light a candle (removing and placing your shoes in the provided racks. Be respectful of the monks. Chat to other photographers. Go home contented with a memory card full of colour.

Greetings and Salutations for 2026.

We took a well earned break to Olifants Nature Reserve over the holidays, doing what we love most- bush stuff!

As always, it  was nothing short of magical. From watching elephants  cavorting in the pools to spotting families of giraffe silhouetted against the late afternoon light, every drive delivered moments that reminded us why the wild is best experienced slowly, camera in hand.

We were exceedingly fortunate to see multiple leopard sightings adding to our heart-stopping thrill only the bush can deliver — fleeting, powerful, unforgettable. We were lucky and thankful to all those who came out to greet us.

As night fell, the reserve truly transformed . We captured atmospheric night imagery where shadows, stars and subtle movement told a completely different story. This is where video really comes alive — not just recording what you see, but what you feel in the moment.

Back in the studio, we brought it all together using DaVinci Resolve, shaping the footage and images  through editing,  adding music and pacing to create a cinematic narrative. This is exactly what we teach in our Video Content Aware  & Video Editing courses — how to shoot with intention and then edit with confidence, turning raw footage into a compelling visual story. We knew that we would most likely see multiple elephant sightings, so we decided to focus on video footage as such, interspersing imagery between.

In my opinion, video is no longer optional for photographers. If you can shoot and edit well, you future-proof your creative career — and we’re here to show you how. Let us know if you would like to join our short courses.

Our 9 month Photographic Course starts in March 2026.

We have space for 2 more self drive vehicles joining  www.getpix at Kgalagadi in October and  we repeat our 100% successful 2025 tour to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan -  10 - 26 August 2026.

Let's talk Storage!☁️

I use Dropbox for storage- what do you use? I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Between my corporate and lifestyle based photoshoots, travel plans, and student projects, I live on cloud storage — but not all clouds are created equal. Which one really makes life easier for sharing, storing, and collaborating?

Both have their perks, but there are a few key differences that might surprise you. Whether you’re backing up client photos or managing your next creative project, here’s my take on which platform keeps things running smoothly.

Let's Talk Storage!

Where is your heart telling you to travel?

How do I decide which countries to offer my photographic tours to?

Well… here’s my secret.

I was sitting on the lounge floor one morning, cup of coffee in hand, sharing my biscuit with our dog, Greyston. I looked at him and asked, “Where does your mom want to travel to, my boy?”

He gave me that look — you know, the ‘give me a biscuit and I’ll tell you’ look.

And sure enough, his answer came through loud and clear (in that knowing way dogs always have):

“Mom, you love the Kgalagadi — the space, the silence, the endless skies, and all those magnificent creatures. You’ve always wanted to share that world by 4x4.”

He wasn’t wrong.

Then came the rest:

Morocco — that one’s always been on the cards. It’s closer, colourful, full of stories, and kind on the wallet.”
“And Japan, well, we’ve watched so many videos of cherry blossoms that even I can recognise them now! And don’t forget Uzbekistan — that magical trip was such a success. You should offer all four.”

So, I took Greyston’s advice. EASY!

And honestly, he was spot on.

Each destination speaks to a different part of me as a photographer. The wild heart that loves the open desert. The curious traveller who craves colour and texture. The dreamer who finds peace in temples and blossoms. And the artist who sees history woven into every blue-tiled dome.

For me, everything is a photograph — from the weathered hands of an elderly man clutching his old bicycle, to the bold yellow lines leading down a quiet road (yes, I’m the one lying flat on the ground to get that shot!).

So that’s how it happened. A coffee, a biscuit, and our wise grey dog with excellent taste in travel.
